Society for Music Theory

Music Theory Spectrum is the official print journal of the Society for Music Theory. It features articles on a range of topics in music theory and analysis, including aesthetics, history of theory, post-tonal theory, critical theory, linear analysis, rhythm, and music cognition. Published twice a year, Spectrum features the best work in music theory, and is recognized as one of the foremost journals in the field. Annual SMT membership automatically includes a year-long subscription to Music Theory Spectrum. The journal is presently available online for library subscriptions and will soon be available online for individuals as well.
