The Assistant Professor of Music: Piano & Theory will teach a full-time academic load. Courses taught will depend on departmental need each semester, as well as the applicant’s experience and expertise, and are likely to include:

MUS104 Sight-Singing II—1 hour
MUS201 Theory III—3 hours

MUS204 Sight-Singing IV—1 hour
MUS300 Form & Analysis—3 hours
MUS141 through MUS144 (1 hour each) Class piano sequence
MUS097 Piano Seminar—1 hour
MUS402 Keyboard Pedagogy—2 hours
MUS404 Keyboard Literature—2 hours
Applied piano lessons to majors, minors,& non-majors(variable credit)
Other duties will include:
> Advise undergraduate students within the major
> Promote and mentor undergraduate student research
> Contribute professionally to the faculty, college, and community by keeping scheduled office hours, serving on college committees, and attending commencement and other college faculty activities
> Participate in professional associations related to these fields of music, such as MTNA and SMT
> Maintain collaborative relationships with school and local studio music educators for recruiting and service purposes and may engage in teaching lessons through the Community Music School program.
Master’s degree in with a minimum of 18 hours of graduate coursework in piano. Ideally, the candidate will have a minimum of three years of successful music teaching experience, preferably at the collegiate level. A DMA is preferred.
