The Marywood University Department of Music, Theatre, and Dance invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Music Theory and Guitar (full-time, non-tenure-track) starting in August 2021. The successful candidate will join a thriving, well-supported, and highly collaborative department of 9 full-time faculty and 30 adjunct faculty.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsibilities: Teaching a four-semester music theory sequence to music majors; serving as a guitar instructor in lessons, classes, and a guitar ensemble; advising music majors; recruiting guitar majors; and auditioning prospective students. Other classes and responsibilities will depend on the candidate’s areas of expertise and interest.

QUALIFICATIONS

PhD or DMA in music theory, guitar, or a related field is required. Candidate must possess strong administrative and communication skills (written and oral). A record of prior teaching experience, and scholarly and/or creative accomplishment is preferred.
