Provide instruction in (MUS101) Music Theory I during the Fall semester (September 7 - December 21, 2021). This course examines the fundamental materials including pitch, rhythm, tonal systems, ear training, and basic harmony for those wishing to learn or improve music-reading skills. Students practice in performance and composition for instruments and voice.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
> Provide instruction that engages a diverse group of learners with different levels of preparation in music education.
> Select and develop appropriate materials for class use.
> Track and assess student progress.
> Maintain appropriate attendance and learner records.
> Participate in ongoing professional development.
> Master's degree in Music Theory or a closely related field.
> Experience teaching a diverse group of learners with different levels of music preparation.
> Experience teaching at a community college or in a similar environment.
> Experience using evidence-based practices such as (e.g., active learning practices, use of multi-media for students with different learning styles) that foster student engagement and support student success.
> Piano proficiency to demonstrate concepts to students.
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
> Expertise teaching the necessary content knowledge in Music Theory using a popular Learning Management System such as Moodle, Canvas, or Blackboard.
> Proficiency in using presentation software such as PowerPoint or equivalent.
