Carleton University's School for Studies in Art and Culture (Ottawa, Ontario) invites applications for a preliminary appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning 1 July 2022, from qualified candidates engaged in studies of Music and Culture. We especially encourage applications from music scholars with expertise in one (or more) of the following areas: critical race studies, gender and sexuality, decolonization, music theory, creative practices (e.g., composition, performance, improvisation, production, etc.), and technology and media. QUALIFICATIONS

The position requires a PhD or equivalent, with evidence of an active commitment to innovative research as reflected in peer- reviewed publications and the potential to develop an externally-funded, high quality research program. The position also requires a demonstrated level of excellence in teaching as well a commitment to advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion in the discipline and on campus.
