The College of Arts and Sciences at Oklahoma State University seeks to hire a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Africana Studies, beginning Fall 2022. We seek an interdisciplinary scholar working in any time period, whose research engages with major themes of Black or Africana Studies from a national, regional, global or transnational perspective. The successful candidate will offer the introductory African American Studies course, along with upper-level courses, structured by interdisciplinary Africana Studies methodologies.
This position forms part of a College-wide cluster hire on inequality. The primary teaching, research, and service responsibilities will be in the Africana Studies program. The successful candidate will be appointed to an appropriate home department, as determined by their academic background.
A PhD in a relevant field in the arts, humanities, or social sciences by start of instruction; a robust research agenda or evidence of dynamic scholarship potential; and a demonstrated commitment to building equitable, diverse classroom and research environments.
