The Department of Music at Reed College in Portland, Oregon invites applications for a tenure-track position in music composition at the assistant professor level, beginning fall 2022.
The area of specialization is open, though the committee welcomes candidates who demonstrate experience with notation-based music, electronic media, improvisation, and/or practices outside of western art music as part of their composition portfolio. Preference will be given to the applicant who, in addition to being committed to achieving success as a teacher, has experience as a practicing artist. Teaching duties may include courses in music theory, and all Reed faculty advise senior theses.
Applicants should have their DMA, Ph.D., or other terminal degree in hand by October 1, 2022.
