The University of Oklahoma School of Music (Norman, OK) seeks a dedicated teacher and researcher of music theory to join a program long known for the education and development of generations of exceptional musicians and critical thinkers.
Teach undergraduate courses and graduate seminars (3 + 2 per academic year) to music majors, serve on graduate committees, collaborate with the theory area in all departmental activities, and serve on various committees as assigned by the Director of the OU School of Music. Contribute to School, College, and University service. Maintain an active and visible international, national, and regional research agenda.
Earned Ph.D. in Music Theory. Evidence of successful teaching and research in music theory.
Evidence of successful teaching in music theory at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Record of scholarly accomplishments, as demonstrated through regional and national/international presentations at music conferences, and publications. Candidates active in research and whose professional work includes expertise outside of the Western European art music canon such as jazz, analysis of world music, film/media/sound studies, or popular traditions are encouraged to apply.
