The theory curriculum at the Hayes School of Music offers students a wide variety of options at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The Hayes School of Music offers an undergraduate and graduate degree with a concentration in theory/composition as well as a graduate certificate in theory pedagogy. This faculty member will teach in the core theory and aural skills sequence, upper level undergraduate theory electives, as well as graduate studies. The faculty member may also teach in the general education curriculum.

Additional responsibilities include maintaining an active research or creative agenda, assisting with outreach and recruiting for the Hayes School of Music, and full participation in the responsibilities of faculty membership (e.g., advising, curriculum development, and service activities). The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment toward students of diverse musical backgrounds, perspectives, and interests.

QUALIFICATIONS

> Earned doctorate in theory and/or composition required.
> Successful candidates will have demonstrated excellence and experience teaching in the undergraduate theory/aural skills core.

Additionally, the faculty member should have demonstrated ability to provide instruction in the following courses:
> Analysis of Band and Orchestra Literature
> Analysis of Popular Music
> Songwriting
> Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate and graduate education and current pedagogical practices.

SALARY
Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
