The Department of Music at Carleton College (Northfield, MN) invites applications for a one-year replacement position (.8 FTE, non-tenure track, with benefits) in Composition and Theory at the rank of visiting assistant professor or instructor, appropriate to education and experience, beginning September 1, 2022.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We seek a composer who is active in the field and who has an understanding of and commitment to the teaching of music composition in an undergraduate liberal arts setting. This leave replacement will teach the equivalent of five (5) courses over three academic trimesters (fall, winter and spring). Teaching may include private composition lessons, basic theory and musicianship and seminars in the applicant’s areas of interest and expertise. Supervision of senior comprehensive thesis projects in composition may also be possible.

QUALIFICATIONS

A Master of Music is required; doctorate (DMA or PhD) is preferred.
