The Department of Music at Alma College (Michigan) invites applications for a tenure-track assistant or associate professor position in music theory and history. Position to begin Fall 2023. Review of applications will begin on January 1, 2023.
Teaching Responsibilities: The successful applicant will have primary responsibility for teaching music history and theory courses required of Alma College music majors. Additional teaching responsibility could include courses of general interest to non-majors in support of the college’s First Year Seminar and General Education programs.
Research and Service Responsibilities: The successful candidate is expected to establish a productive scholarship and creative agenda. Service to the college through participation in student recruitment activities, committee work and other activities is expected of all tenure-track faculty.
Qualifications: Applicants should have a Ph.D in historical musicology or music theory OR a D.M.A. with previous collegiate-level experience teaching music history and theory. ABD applicants welcome if graduation is expected by May 2023.
