The Department of Music of the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a full-time faculty position to begin on September 1, 2023, pending budgetary approval.
Assistant Professor in Music Technology/Theory; full-time, renewable, non-tenure stream
Teach three undergraduate courses per semester in music theory and electronic music; offer upper-level courses on topics that serve the needs of music majors/minors and general undergraduate education; share in developing the undergraduate curriculum; help coordinate the university’s undergraduate composition program.
The successful candidate will work closely with the composition/music theory faculty.
Qualifications: The successful candidate will have received a Ph.D. in Composition/Music Theory by June 1, 2023.
We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in both popular and classical genres, with a track record of work among students across various music disciplines.

The Department of Music offers the B.A. degree within a liberal arts school and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Musicology, Ethnomusicology, Jazz Studies, and Composition and Theory. The undergraduate program provides students with instruction in music history, world perspectives, theoretical frameworks, performance, and composition of music and encourages interaction across sub-disciplines.
