Each year SMT sponsors an annual meeting where scholars may present their ongoing research; papers are accepted on a blind-read, competitive basis. In addition, members may participate in special sessions organized by standing committees, such as the Committee on the Status of Women, the Committee on Diversity, and the Professional Development Committee, as well as events organized by SMT Interest Groups. A special workshop for students is also held as part of the annual meeting.

2014: Milwaukee, Wisconsin, November 6-9; co-sponsored with the American Musicological Society (2014 Call for Papers deadline: TBA)

• June 1, 2013 Deadline for submissions to the August issue of the SMT Newsletter. Please e-mail your contribution to Joel Phillips (phillips@rider.edu) as an unformatted Microsoft Word document. If you include hyperlinks, please test their accuracy before submission. If a photograph or graphic image would enhance your article, please obtain and provide any necessary copyright permission or attribution and contact the editor prior to submitting it. Inclusion of any article is subject to the approval of the Executive Board.
• July 15, 2013 SMT subvention grant deadline.
• September 10, 2013 SMT International and Minority Travel Grant deadline for 2013 Annual Meeting
