We would like to announce that the 19th meeting of the Feminist Theory & Music conference will be held at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, from June 20-22, 2024. The conference features over three dozen speakers and performers whose work lies variously at the intersections of gender, sexuality, race, and ethnicity.

On the first day of the conference, our distinguished keynote speaker, Dr. Nancy Rao (Rutgers University), will present a paper entitled “Life History of Archives and Objects: On Chinese Opera Actresses and Theaters in the Americas.”

Participants and guests will be invited to tour the University of Michigan’s Lurie Carillon with the University Carillonist, Dr. Tiffany Ng, on the second day of the conference and to enjoy an outdoor concert of carillon music during the lunch break.

The conference will conclude with a concert by the renowned Ellen Rowe Octet. Rowe’s group will play selections from their recent album, “Momentum: Portraits of Women in Motion.”
