The Arnold Schönberg Center in Vienna in cooperation with the Center for Research on Arnold Schönberg and the Viennese School at the Department of Musicology and Performance Studies of the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna is hosting an international symposium from October 15 to October 17, 2020. The main topic of the symposium will be the fragment in its different forms and contexts, with a focus on fragmentary material from all areas of Arnold Schönberg’s creative work, ranging from unfinished compositions and writings to abandoned paintings and drawings. Independent contributions on this topic and also current Schönberg research questions are welcomed. The symposium offers scholars the opportunity to present the results of their research in a 20-minute lecture. The lectures can be given in German or English. Publication of selected contributions and also independent articles is planned for the Journal of the Arnold Schönberg Center 18/2021.
