From June 1 to 30, 2024, founding SMT Treasurer Mary Wennerstrom will add $25 to each donation of $5 or more to the SMT.
Mary Wennerstrom, Professor Emerita at Indiana University, Lifetime SMT Member, and founding SMT Treasurer (1977–92), will generously support donations made in the month of June 2024 by adding $25 to each donation of $5 or more.
Professor Wennerstrom helped found the Society for Music Theory nearly 50 years ago, as described in her 2002 recollections published in Music Theory Online. We recognize her deep commitment to the field and her investment in sustaining SMT’s transformation into the future.
The Society for Music Theory relies on donations from individuals. Annual membership dues support the operational costs of the Society. Donations help redistribute resources to members in need through conference accessibility and livestreaming, publication subventions, dissertation fellowships, journal subsidies, and travel grants, among other initiatives.
The Society only seeks donations from individuals. Donations of all sizes from SMT members at all career stages, as well as other supporters of music theory, are gratefully welcomed.
