This year marks the fiftieth anniversary of the release of Joni Mitchell’s groundbreaking album Blue. Blue has been cited by many musicians and critics as her greatest album, the culmination of her early recordings, a work unprecedented in its emotional and psychological depth, craftsmanship, and sheer beauty. This one-day virtual conference on April 9, 2021 will feature invited speakers Nicole Biamonte, Lloyd Whitesell, Malka Marom, Daniel Levitin, Ann Powers, Peter Kaminsky, and Megan Lyons. Following the morning session, the conference will feature research presentations by Timothy Koozin, Matthew J. Jones, Adam Behan, Daniel Zimmerman, Nathan Cobb, and Nancy Murphy.
