The Music Department at Drake University (in Des Moines, IA) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Music Theory position, to begin Fall 2022.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Primary responsibilities include teaching courses within the undergraduate tonal theory sequence, particularly advanced tonal harmony and post-tonal theory. Additional responsibilities include overseeing the music theory curriculum, advising senior theses for the B.A. (Music) degree, and teaching specialized seminars (e.g., counterpoint, orchestration, etc.). Secondary areas of specialization may include composition, music technology, pedagogy of theory, and/or music industry and administration. The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with colleagues and assume an active role in the advisement and retention of music students.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must demonstrate commitment to and record of successful teaching at the University level, and a commitment to scholarly and/or creative achievement.

Doctorate required by start of Fall 2022 term.

SALARY
Salary competitive.
