—Graduate Student Conference Grants—
The Music Theory Society of New York State (MTSNYS) Graduate Student Conference Grants help graduate students defray the costs of attending annual MTSNYS conferences. Up to eight grants of up to $200 each are awarded yearly, to be used to reimburse travel, lodging, and meal expenses. Each grant also includes a waiver of the conference registration fee.
Any student currently enrolled in a graduate program is eligible to apply. Applicants need not be members of MTSNYS. Awardees will be selected by lottery; students awarded a grant will be ineligible to receive one the following year. All decisions made by MTSNYS regarding conference grants are final. The 2024 conference will be held at Ithaca College from April 6–7.
To apply for a 2024 conference grant, send an email with your name, mailing address, email, phone, name of institution and degree program, and proof of enrollment (scan of student ID or other documentation) to: Ben Baker, MTSNYS Treasurer
The application deadline is Friday, March 15, 2024.
—Conference Workshop—
Nancy Rao (Rutgers University) will lead the conference workshop, “‘Shilin Jita’: Listening to Opera in America of the Roaring Twenties.” The workshop will take place on Saturday, April 6 from 7:30–9:30 p.m. To reserve a spot, please send a brief bio (200 words maximum) to Alex Reed .

Registration for the 2024 MTSNYS Annual Meeting is available through the MTSNYS User Dashboard on the MTSNYS website. You’ll be asked to complete a Google Form and pay via PayPal. Please note that your registration is not complete until both the Google Form and PayPal payment have been submitted. Mailed registrations must be received by April 1, 2024. Registrations after this date must be completed either online or on-site at Ithaca.
