Reed College is a small, distinguished liberal arts institution committed to excellence in teaching and scholarship. The Department of Music at Reed College in Portland, Oregon, invites applications for a 1-year visiting faculty position in Music Composition/Theory/Tech beginning Fall 2025.
Teaching responsibilities include: two one-semester intermediate theory, analysis, and/or musicianship courses; two one- semester composition courses in the area of the instructor’s expertise; with preference given to electroacoustic music and/or sound production, and option for a repertory-based survey course (history of electronic music, contemporary music, etc). In addition, all music faculty supervise yearlong senior theses.
The committee welcomes applications demonstrating experience with notation-based music and/or electronic time-based media as part of the composition portfolio. Preference will be given to the applicant who, in addition to being committed to achieving excellence as a teacher, has experience as a practicing artist. Applicants should have their DMA or Ph.D. in hand by June 2025.
