The Artsong and Gender in Dialogue online lecture series, organized by Maria Behrendt (from the Hannover University of Music, Drama, and Media) and Anna Bredenbach (from the University of Erfurt) is seeking proposals that explore the intersections between art song and gender, including studies of gender as an aesthetic category as well as research on art songs by underrepresented composers whose work has been marginalized due to their gender. Presentations can take any of these forms:
• standard 20-minute conference papers
• themed panels (two or three 20-minute papers plus, optionally, a session chair)
• interviews with performers and industry figures
All lectures will be in English and will take place every other Monday at 6 PM Central European Time (CET), starting October 27 and running through January 26, with a break during the holidays.
Proposals—which include a short abstract and a CV—are being accepted until August 15, 2025. More information can be found at https://www.songandgender.org/.
