The Florida State University College of Music invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Music Theory, a 9-month faculty member at the tenure-earning rank of Assistant Professor. Appointment will begin August 2026.

• Teach undergraduate and graduate music theory courses from among current offerings and/or in the candidate’s area of expertise.
• Maintain an active agenda of research and publication in the field of music theory.
• Participate in university and professional service activities, including service on committees, student recruitment and advising, and administration of area exams. Participate in professional service activities nationally and internationally as appropriate.
• A completed doctoral degree in Music Theory or equivalent at the time of appointment.
• A commitment to the recruitment of outstanding students and to fostering an environment that contributes to the culture, vibrancy, and diversity of the university community.
• A strong record of scholarly achievement and ongoing research is preferred. We are seeking a dynamic teacher and scholar whose academic interests complement those of our current faculty.
