The successful candidate will join TWU's vibrant music faculty in preparing music students for their 21st-century careers. The Division of Music has an enrollment of approximately 275 music majors. Bachelor’s degrees are offered in music education, music therapy, musical theatre, performance and liberal arts. Additionally, master’s degrees are offered in music education, music therapy, performance, and instrumental, piano, or vocal pedagogy.
The successful candidate will:
Teach undergraduate courses in music theory, aural skills, and analytical techniques.
Teach graduate courses in music theory pedagogy.
Teach other courses in secondary area(s) of expertise such as music technology, composition, arranging, or musicology.
Serve on division, college and university committees.
Actively participate in music division recruiting.
Maintain an active agenda of research and creative activity that enhances the program. standing and visibility of the division and the music theory area.
Serve on graduate student committees.
Actively participate in professional music organizations on the state and national levels.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Hold an earned doctorate in Music Theory or Composition
Evidence of successful teaching at the college/university level
Strong record of scholarly activity and potential for continued research productivity
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with innovative and engaging teaching strategies that focus on the needs of 21st-century students
Experience teaching in different modalities (i.e. face-to-face, hybrid, online, synchronous, asynchronous, etc.)
Experience with recruitment and retention of varied student populations
