The School of Music at Stephen F. Austin State University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Music Theory for the 2026-2027 academic year. This nine-month, full-time position comes with a salary of $55,000 and health benefits. The successful candidate will teach four classes per long term (fall and spring). These will mostly include courses in the core theory and aural skills sequence, but the load may also include an upper-level course (advanced undergraduate or master’s level).
Minimum Qualifications:
1. A PhD in music theory or related field in hand by August 2026.
2. Two or more years of collegiate teaching experience (may include teaching during graduate study).
