The Music Theory Society at Florida State University is pleased to announce its 44th annual Music Theory Forum to be held in-person on Saturday, March 6, 2027. We are excited to welcome Professor Chelsea Burns (Butler School of Music, The University of Texas at Austin) as this year’s keynote speaker.
FSU's Music Theory Society is currently soliciting paper proposals on any topic related to music theory. All proposals must be submitted electronically in PDF format and must be received by 11:59 PM EST on Tuesday, December 1st, 2026. Please email these PDF files to: fsumts.forum@gmail.com. Submissions should include the following:
- An anonymous proposal of no more than 500 words, including any footnotes or endnotes. A maximum of four pages of supplementary materials may be appended (which will not be counted within the word limit, but should not appreciably add to the word count or content of the proposal);
- An anonymous abstract of no more than 150 words suitable for publication;
- The proposal title and author information (name, institutional affiliation, phone number, and e-mail address) in the body of the email.
We aim to notify selected presenters by late January. Accepted presentations will be twenty minutes in length and will be presented in person at FSU on March 6th, 2027, followed by ten minutes of discussion for each paper. Information regarding registration for the conference will be available at https://fsumts.wordpress.com/ by late January.
