GENERAL INFO

The School of Arts and Humanities invites applications for a non-tenure system Assistant or Associate Professor of Instruction in Music Theory. This is a full-time position with a four-course load per semester.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Teaching duties include three undergraduate levels of music theory, and other courses in the applicant’s area(s) of expertise or assigned based upon the needs of the Visual and Performing Arts program.

Prepare and teach undergraduate and/or graduate classes

Contribute assessment information and data as requested

Mentor and/or advise undergraduate and/or graduate students

QUALIFICATIONS

We seek candidates with a record of teaching excellence who are excited to contribute to the music concentration within the Visual and Performing Arts BA degree program at UT Dallas.

Minimum education: earned MA or MM.
An earned Doctorate in Music Theory (PhD) or Composition (DMA) at the time of appointment is preferred. ABD will be considered.

Candidates will be evaluated on their willingness to nurture a progressive, creative classroom environment where all voices are welcomed and valued; their training in music theory; how their pedagogical approach intersects with their research interests; and teaching experience at the university level.

Hotel Reservations 

The Hyatt Regency Riverfront Hotel (225 E Coastline Drive) has reserved a block of rooms for conference attendees. The rates are $169/night for single and double occupancy; $194/night for triple occupancy; $219/night for quadruple occupancy; and $169 for student quadruple occupancy (limited rooms available). Hotel reservations for non-students may be made online.  SMT student members should have received an email with a code to reserve at the student rate; please email Jennifer Diaz at smt@societymusictheory.org if you did not receive the email. 

Using the conference room block at this hotel helps us meet our contractual obligations and keeps you close to all conference activities.
