The Comparative Humanities program in the School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at Habib University invites applications for a committed educator and professional in the academic area of Music, to teach courses in Ethnomusicology, Composition, Creative Practice, Music Theory, Musicology, and Performance Practice at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor.
The program seeks talented faculty who are passionate about teaching and student learning at the undergraduate level in line with global developments in the field. Habib University seeks outstanding student mentors who will be involved in the lives of students through mentoring, student support, enrolment initiatives, and other activities related to the education experience.
Fall appointments begin August 1st and Spring appointments begin January 1st.

Primary responsibilities include: teaching undergraduate courses, active engagement in institutional service, professional activities, student mentorship, and curriculum planning and review. The annual teaching load is 5 three- or four-credit courses. The candidate hired for this position will be expected to play an active role in organizing and leading events for the Centre of South Asian Music.
A completed Ph.D. in Music – broadly defined to include Musicology, History of Music, Anthropology of Music, and other areas. While the area of specialization for this position is open, candidates are expected to have competence in the area of World Music, in particular, South Asian, Middle Eastern, African, Central Asian, and associated forms of hybridity. The ideal candidate will possess excellent teaching and scholarly skills, will be able to work with a diverse population of students and colleagues, will enjoy influencing the intellectual growth of their students, will be effective in institutional service, will be passionate about undergraduate research and is excited to work with colleagues across disciplines. Experience studying in and/or working in a liberal arts environment will be an advantage.
