Description
With more than 5,000 students, Kilgore College is a two-year, comprehensive public community college located in East Texas. KC is now accepting applications for the position of Music Department Recruiter, a person who will take on the responsibilities of various timed initiatives throughout a 12-month calendar year for the purpose of recruiting and assisting with the enrollment process of new music students in the Department of Music and Dance.
The goal is to grow the Department’s number of music majors, minors, and participants by assisting with the administration of on- and off-campus recruiting events including the coordination of Director visits to high schools, recruiting and music conventions, and music education performance events. Assisting the Director of Bands and the Director of Choral/Vocal Music with background clerical and communication tasks with prospective students, directors, and parents is a major portion of the position which includes promotional items acquisition and disbursement as well as coordination with the College’s outreach team. The position reports to the Department Chair of Music and Dance and coordinates all activities in music recruiting and outreach with the Chair. Music Audition Days, Evening Concerts, High School College Fairs, Kilgore College Club Events, TMEA and Summer Southwest Music Conventions, and other events are required for this person to facilitate aspects and attend. Success is measured for the position by meeting timelines, developing a professional exhibit hall recruiting booth with the Chair, managing social media for the Department, facilitating recruiting aspects of performance events including video/audio production, and identifying and tracking target needs by area of instrumental/vocal prospects throughout a recruiting season.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:
The successful candidate will be resourceful, professional, and have a Bachelor’s Degree in a Music discipline as well as strong organizational and oral/written communication skills, and a desire to work with music faculties and students in a recruiting context. Applicants must have strong computer skills with MS Office software and basic website capabilities. Experience with social media is preferred. Also, the candidate must be a self-starter and be able to work independently as well as work flexible hours at certain times of the year, including weekends and/or evenings. Must have dependable transportation.

Interview Process: Desired candidates will be contacted for interviews and presentations. Interviewees will be given 10 minutes to present their plan for growing the Kilgore College Music Department to the interview team and will answer questions following the presentations. Audio and video equipment resources will be available for such purpose.

Salary Range and Fringe Benefits:
The twelve-month salary is $35,568. Health, life, and income protection insurance are provided. An excellent retirement program through the Teacher Retirement System and generous paid leave time are also furnished. In addition, full time employees have free use of the college’s recreational/fitness facilities and tuition scholarships are available for the employee and dependent children. Kilgore College does not participate in the federal Social Security program. As a result, employees/retirees of the college are subject to the federal Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and possibly the Government Pension Offset (GPO) laws. Hotel Reservations 

The Hyatt Regency Riverfront Hotel (225 E Coastline Drive) has reserved a block of rooms for conference attendees. The rates are $169/night for single and double occupancy; $194/night for triple occupancy; $219/night for quadruple occupancy; and $169 for student quadruple occupancy (limited rooms available). Hotel reservations for non-students may be made online.  SMT student members should have received an email with a code to reserve at the student rate; please email Jennifer Diaz at smt@societymusictheory.org if you did not receive the email. 

Using the conference room block at this hotel helps us meet our contractual obligations and keeps you close to all conference activities.
