• Tonal Music Theory I
• Tonal Musicianship Skills I
• Tonal Musicianship Skills III
These courses are part of our undergraduate music major curriculum for both BA and BMus students. Tonal Music Theory I is taught in a large-lecture format with grading assistants; Tonal Musicianship Skills I is taught in a combined format of lecture (two sections) plus small recitation sections, which are led by teaching assistants. Tonal Musicianship Skills III is taught in a combined format of lecture plus recitation section(s), led by the instructor.
Our faculty embraces the inclusion of diverse repertories and musicians in our courses. Learning outcomes for these courses include demonstrated skills-development in the relevant subject areas. The lecturer will collaborate with current full-time faculty to ensure that the courses prepare students for subsequent coursework in the curriculum and use appropriate course materials.
