The Musicianship Department of the Mary Pappert School of Music at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA seeks a qualified part-time instructor to teach one or preferably both sections (3 credits each) of our music appreciation course for undergraduate non-majors entitled “Enjoyment of Music” in both Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 semesters. This course is taught in person on our campus and typically attracts an enrollment of between 40-80 students per section, with a cap of 100 per section. One section meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:15-1:30 pm, and the other section meets on Wednesday evenings from 6-8:40 pm.

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate would have an energetic and engaging classroom presence, prior experience in higher education teaching general education courses in music, and a creative and thoughtful approach to teaching a broad-based music appreciation course in particular.
