The Arthur Satz Music Department at the University of Rochester (Rochester, NY) seeks applicants for a tenure-track professor in music. This will likely come with a secondary appointment at the Eastman School of Music. Applications should be submitted by October 14, 2024.
Teaching responsibilities will include teaching music theory courses in our core curriculum, electives of the candidate’s choice, and other general courses in consultation with the department chair. The standard teaching load is two courses per semester.
Applicants must have (or be about to receive) a Ph.D. in music theory or a related field. Musicologists and ethnomusicologists are welcome to apply, provided that they are capable of teaching in the theory curriculum. All candidates should show demonstrated excellence in teaching at the college level. We are especially looking for candidates with research interests that complement our current faculty—e.g., western art music after 1800, film music, musical theater, songwriting, etc.—but we welcome all research specialties.
All applications should include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, and three letters of recommendation. Links to at least one teaching video are welcome but not required. Also, please include a statement describing how you will add to the University’s core values of Meliora (http://rochester.edu/about/values.html), discussing how your experiences will shape your pursuits as a faculty member, and providing other information you feel is relevant to the evaluation of your application.
Application materials should be submitted online at: http://apply.interfolio.com/152929
Applications will be accepted through October 14, 2024.
