The Indiana University Jacobs School of Music seeks candidates for a one-year full-time visiting position in music theory for the 2026–27 academic year. Expected start date: 08/01/2026.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in music theory; participate in departmental activities as assigned. Likely teaching includes an undergraduate post-tonal music theory and literature course, graduate review classes in written theory and aural skills, and a seminar in the candidate’s area of expertise.

QUALIFICATIONS

A completed Ph.D. degree in music theory or its equivalent is required by time of appointment.
Promising candidates with any area of research specialization will be considered. Preference will be given to those with experience in undergraduate or graduate teaching of common-practice and post-1900 repertoires.
