The Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University seeks a passionate educator and an extraordinary musician to be appointed to the rank of Assistant Professor of Music Theory and teach Ear Training beginning August 2026.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Working as part of a team to teach all levels of ear training within our undergraduate and graduate curricula, including developing advanced electives in musicianship techniques and theory graduate seminars

Serving on departmental, school, and university committees

Participating in departmental reviews and curriculum development

Maintaining an active profile of scholarship, composition, and/or performance

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified applicants will be able to document successful teaching experience at the collegiate level and an active profile of scholarship and/or artistic activities. A doctorate is preferred. Applicants should be familiar with current trends in aural skills pedagogy and have experience teaching classroom ear training.

SALARY
$60,000 - $70,000
