Wake Forest University seeks a dynamic teacher and scholar for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor of Music who specializes in music composition, technology, and/or theory. The successful candidate will be expected to teach two new undergraduate courses, introduction to composition and introduction to music technology, and Music Theory I, in addition to other courses from our catalog. The teaching load is three courses per semester.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach existing and new undergraduate courses such as introduction to composition, introduction to music technology, and Music Theory I, as well as courses in the following areas relevant to their experience and interests: Introduction to Modern Popular Music, Introduction to Western Music, Introduction to Jazz, and upper-level undergraduate music theory electives. The teaching load is three courses per semester.
The ideal applicant would demonstrate commitments to interdisciplinary work and diversity and inclusion by way of teaching, publishing, performance, and/or service; the ability to do so should be addressed in the candidate's cover letter. Evidence of successful teaching as instructor of record at the undergraduate level is required. Applicants must be ABD in composition, music technology, music theory, or a related field by the time of appointment.
