South-Central Society for Music Theory: Related pages

The program committee for the 2026 meeting of the South Central Society for Music Theory (SCSMT) invites proposals on any topic related to music theory, analysis, or music theory pedagogy. The conference will be held at University of Louisville, in Louisville, KY on March 20–21, 2026. Submissions are due December 1st, 2026 @ 11:59pm.

This event also has a workshop (submission due January 31st, 2026) and a student paper award (submission due February 20, 2026). See links for further information.

South Central Society for Music Theory conference. Registration also open for two workshops: “Rhythm (Sometimes) without Meter” led by Mitch Ohriner, and “Timbre in Aural Skills” led by Timothy Chenette. Note that workshop registration deadline is different (January 31, 2025) from that for proposals (Dec 1, 2024).

The program committee for the Music Theory Southeast (MTSE) and the South Central Society for Music Theory (SCSMT) joint meeting, hosted by Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN, on March 15–16, 2024, invites proposals on any topic related to music theory, analysis, or music theory pedagogy. As part of the conference, graduate students are invited to apply for a workshop analyzing Baroque vocal music led by Dr. Christopher Brody. We are also pleased to announce that our keynote speaker will be Dr. Victoria Malawey.
