The Music Theory Society of Florida State University is pleased to announce its 40th annual Music Theory Forum to be held Saturday, January 14th, 2022. This conference will be hybrid: the paper presentations and the keynote address will be held in person; conference attendees are welcome to join us in person or virtually, as the conference sessions will be live streamed. We are excited to welcome Professor Noriko Manabe (Temple University) as this year’s keynote speaker. The Music Theory Society is currently soliciting paper proposals on any topic related to music theory. All proposals must be submitted electronically in PDF format, and must be received by 11:59 PM EST on Wednesday, November 30, 2022. Please email these PDF files to: fsumts.forum@gmail.com. Submissions should include the following: • An anonymous proposal of no more than 500 words, including any footnotes or endnotes. A maximum of four pages of supplementary materials may be appended (which will not be counted within the word limit, but should not appreciably add to the word count or content of the proposal); • An anonymous abstract of 200–300 words suitable for publication; • A cover letter written in the body of the email providing the title of the proposal, the author’s name and institutional affiliation, phone number, and e-mail address. We aim to notify selected presenters by mid-December. Accepted presentations will be twenty minutes in length and will be presented live at Florida State’s campus on January 14th, followed by ten minutes of discussion. Information regarding registration for the conference will be available at fsumts.wordpress.com by late December. Questions about any aspect of the Music Theory Forum may be directed to the Forum co-chairs, Blake Merritt and Zachary Lloyd, at fsumts.forum@gmail.com.
