The Canadian University Music Society (MusCan) will hold its annual conference in conjunction with Congress 2020 from June 3rd - 5th, 2020, at Western University, Don Wright Faculty of Music in London, Ontario. We acknowledge that the Western University campus is situated on the traditional ancestral unceded lands of the Anishinaabek, Haudenosaunee, Lūnaapéewak and Attawandaron (Neutral) peoples. The theme of Congress 2020 is “Bridging Divides: Confronting Colonialism and Anti-Black Racism,” showcasing discipline and across-discipline engagement—in literature, visual arts, and music—with topics as diverse as equity, diversity, and inclusion; knowledge production and education; imperialism; culture; critical theory and practice; solidarity; socialization; and representation. Proposals related to aspects of the larger theme are encouraged but not required. With its Calls for Lecture-Recitals, Mini-Concerts, Scores, Papers, Sessions, Films, and Round Tables, the Canadian University Music Society aims to bring together scholars from a wide range of perspectives for a vibrant discussion.
