“Music, Sound, & Climate Justice Conversations (MSCJC) 2022”
Online and in New Orleans, November 7–9, 2022

MSCJC is a gathering to engage questions surrounding the intersections of music and sound with social and ecological justice, environmentalism, and the climate crisis.

Our MSCJC has already begun online asynchronously. We convene November 8-9 in New Orleans with all presentations in plenary format. Zoom is an option for those who need to attend virtually. There will be numerous opportunities for group and small discussions online and in New Orleans in response to papers and performances.

Participants must register to confirm in-person and/or online attendance. To improve inclusivity, there is a sliding scale for participation fees (ranging from $0 to $50). All student presenters receive a registration fee waiver thanks to generous support from the Ecomusicology Study Group of the American Musicological Society; most student presenters received travel funding thanks to generous donations from individuals and the Portia Maultsby Fund of the Society for Ethnomusicology. We welcome additional donations to support our efforts to further inclusivity.
