August 26, 1920, is an important date in women’s history. It is the date in which the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution was ratified and signed into law. This important amendment made it illegal for federal and state governments to deny citizens of the United States the right to vote based upon gender. To recognize this monumental event in American history, the Ball State University School of Music announces A Powerful Force: Women in Music, A Conference Celebrating the Diverse Contributions Made by Women in Music. Taking place March 12-14, 2020, on the campus of Ball State University, in Muncie, Indiana, it will feature papers, lecture-recitals and performances pertaining to all aspects of women in music from performers to composers to entrepreneurs.
