The Society for Music Theory's 49th Annual Meeting is coming to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, this November. More than 650 music theorists from colleges, universities, and conservatories around the world will gather for four days of connection, collaboration, and exploration of new directions in music research and practice.
SMT's 1,200-member community spans academics, graduate students, and professionals at the forefront of music theory in higher education. This year's meeting features 150+ presentations alongside workshops, receptions, small-group meetings, and plenty of opportunities to forge meaningful connections. Whether you're faculty, a graduate student, publisher, or administrator, this is where your field comes together.

The 2026 Annual Meeting will be held at the Hyatt Regency Milwaukee. You may reserve a hotel room at the group rate through October 15. Students - please contact Jennifer Diaz at smt@societymusictheory.org for the group rate and reservation link.

- Exhibit Tables

Reach a targeted audience of music theorists by exhibiting at this year's meeting. Tables are located alongside registration and just steps from session rooms, with complimentary refreshment breaks in the exhibit area throughout the day.
Each 8' x 30" table comes with two chairs, a tablecloth, and skirting. Your exhibit table includes two complimentary staff registrations, your logo and URL in the program book and on the conference website, and a listing in the October e-newsletter.

This year's 8.5" x 11" program book will be available in print and as a PDF, giving you two chances to make an impression. You may submit a color version of your ad for the PDF edition and a black & white version for the print edition.

Schedule a networking event or meeting during the conference — it will appear on the official program and give you dedicated time with your ideal audience.
