The Musimédiane journal, published by the French Society for Music Analysis (SFAM), has renewed its editorial board and is launching an open call for contributions. Submissions may be written in French or English.

As a reminder, Musimédiane – an online, open-access journal – publishes articles on music analysis and music theory that make use of multimedia techniques. Its aim is to provide researchers with a publication venue that allows the integration of audiovisual and multimedia materials, supporting analytical practices that require a dynamic – or even interactive – representation of sonic objects and musical forms. Musimédiane is open to any analytical and/or theoretical research, broadly understood, and encourages a diversity of approaches (musicology, ethnomusicology, computer science applied to music, music pedagogy, etc.), both in terms of analytical methods and studied repertoires (art music from all periods, traditional music, popular music, film music, video game music, etc.).

The journal publishes original articles submitted spontaneously, as well as thematic sections consisting of a coherent set of articles proposed under the responsibility of a coordinating editor.

Article Submissions

Authors wishing to publish in Musimédiane are invited to submit their full article, in French or English, to the editors-in-chief at redaction@musimediane.com.

Articles must be original (i.e., not previously published in another form or language) and must follow the submission guidelines. The editorial board can provide assistance with the preparation and formatting of articles for those who are less familiar with multimedia tools.Full article proposals are received and processed on a rolling basis. The board is, however, planning to release a new issue on 1 December 2026: articles intended for this issue must reach the editors no later than 31 August 2026.

All articles will be evaluated through a double-blind peer review process.

Please feel free to send any questions to redaction@musimediane.com.
