JOB DESCRIPTION

The Department of Music is looking to recruit a Lecturer in Popular Music. The Department contributes to Goldsmiths' focus on creativity, innovation and interdisciplinarity. The post-holder will join a team of academic staff delivering our successful BMus programme in Popular Music and MMus pathways in Popular Music and Creative Practice.

QUALIFICATIONS

Teaching experience should lie in creative and performance practice in popular music and demonstrate a commitment to teaching in HE. Areas of desirable expertise here include: Afro-diasporic musics, music production/performance technologies, improvisation, DIY and fringe culture, audio-visual media/site-specific work, music industries, as well as having a good understanding of contemporary critical debates in fringe/popular music. Candidates should ideally have teaching experience at HE level, with a demonstrable ability to engage and enthuse students in practice-based work and have an undergraduate qualification in a relevant area, a postgraduate qualification, or equivalent professional experience.

Hotel Reservations 

The Hyatt Regency Riverfront Hotel (225 E Coastline Drive) has reserved a block of rooms for conference attendees. The rates are $169/night for single and double occupancy; $194/night for triple occupancy; $219/night for quadruple occupancy; and $169 for student quadruple occupancy (limited rooms available). Hotel reservations for non-students may be made online.  SMT student members should have received an email with a code to reserve at the student rate; please email Jennifer Diaz at smt@societymusictheory.org if you did not receive the email. 

Using the conference room block at this hotel helps us meet our contractual obligations and keeps you close to all conference activities.
