The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign School of Music invites applications for a full time Assistant or Associate Teaching Professor in Musicianship and Music Theory. This is a non-tenure track, promotion-eligible position to begin August 16, 2023. Salary and title commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities:
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in musicianship and music theory; supervise the core musicianship curriculum; help determine a future-conscious vision for the School's theory and musicianship programs, including the creation of courses as well as diversifying the materials and methods of instruction; service to the School, College, and University. Additional creative activity, research and/or service to the field will be considered as part of the hiring process and may be credited toward the successful candidate's workload.

Qualifications:
Required:
• An emerging or established reputation as a pedagogue in musicianship (aural-skills, ear-training) and/or music theory.
• Successful teaching experience at the university level.
• Experience teaching musicianship/music theory courses encompassing a diverse range of musical styles and genres.
• Terminal degree in music or commensurate experience.
Preferred:
• Experience teaching music theory pedagogy courses at the university level.
• Additional qualifications that intersect with other disciplines within the School and/or the University (e.g., performance, composition, technology).
• An interest in exploring public engagement opportunities.
