The East Tennessee State University Department of Music is seeking an adjunct faculty member to begin in the fall 2024 semester.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Courses may include sections of our combined theory and aural skills sequence, composition, applied composition, orchestration and arranging, counterpoint, or advanced music theory. Additional courses may be available depending on the skill set of the individual, including Introduction to Music or Music Fundamentals. All theory/aural skills are taught in a digital lab with students at individual computer and piano keyboard lab stations.

Preference for those with a compositional background in choral music.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of Finale software and ability to teach in a digital keyboard lab
- The ability to work with other faculty in a collegial and professional manner

Required Qualifications
- Earned Master's in Music Theory or Composition

Preferred Qualifications
- Composition background in choral music.
- Demonstrated success teaching music theory and aural skills at the collegiate level.

SALARY
Salary: $1000 per credit for faculty with a doctorate; $900 per credit for faculty with a master's degree. The expected load is to be no less than 12 credits in the fall semester and no less than 8 credits in the spring semester.
