The University of North Alabama’s (Florence, AL) Department of Music invites applications for a Lecturer of Music – Theory position beginning in Fall 2024. The Department of Music is a proud member of the UNA School of the Arts, alongside wonderful colleagues from the Departments of Cinematic Arts and Theatre, Visual Arts and Design, and Entertainment Industry. JOB DESCRIPTION

The successful candidate will teach a 15-credit hour course load for the fall and spring semester that encompasses Theory I-IV, Sight-Singing and Ear Training I-IV, Form and Analysis, Orchestration and Arranging, and other coursework as assigned; teach applied composition lessons; provide service to the university community; and perform other duties as assigned. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain excellence in teaching music theory courses, and teach related coursework such as composition and music technology as needed; attend faculty and other relevant meetings; and foster diversity and inclusion among students. QUALIFICATIONS

A terminal degree in music theory and/or composition is preferred. A master’s degree in music theory or music theory and composition is required. Experience in teaching collegiate-level theory courses is required. Experience teaching composition is preferred.
