SMT's Statement on Anti-Asian Violence

The Executive Board of the Society for Music Theory condemns the acts of anti-Asian violence that have been occurring this year in the United States and continue to escalate. We urge you to reach out to members of our Society who have been especially affected by these violent acts of the last three weeks, and who are dealing with this pain every day.

Workshops at SMT 2021

Graduate student workshops: Professor Nancy Rogers of Florida State University will be presenting a workshop on Intersections of Music Cognition and Music Theory Pedagogy; Professor Kyle Adams of Indiana University will be presenting a workshop on Analyzing Hip-Hop through the Music of Daniel Dumile. Peer Learning Programs: Professor Arnie Cox of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music will be presenting a workshop on Music & Emotion: A Semi-Practical Approach; Professor Áine Heneghan of the University of Michigan will be presenting a workshop on Form and Forming: Schoenbergian Analysis.
